Technology and the Human Touch
I’ve seen this posted in more than a few places, but I still think it’s so cool that it warrants sharing.
Leisa Reich (author of the blog Disambiguity) has created a mash-up of PowerPoint slides and Post-It notes in a presentation about information architecture. From the post at Web Worker Daily:
The result is much more human than the flat boxes and computerized typefaces of PowerPoint. I bet it’s more fun to create a presentation that way too, because you get the physical pleasure of writing the notes and shifting them around.
This reminds me of the Ann Arbor District Library card catalog which lets you add your own comments to the margins of virtual cards. What I love is how it actually simulates different kinds of handwriting to make the comments appear even more natural, as if they could have been written by not one but many different people.
What other applications (or mash-ups thereof) allow for a more human touch to our technological world?
